Day 047, 048 & 049 - Moving into our new Apartment

So living in a small town has its perks... This morning I walked to work from our new place.  It was a beautiful crisp morning - about 0 degrees!!!  Takes me about 25 minutes to get to work.  Am wondering how I'm going to go when its actually winter.... Walking in -30 degrees is not going to be fun.

We are slowly getting settled into our new life.  We moved into our own ppartment this morning which has views of the mountains.  Pretty much anywhere in the Rockies has views of mountains.  Best of all we have our own fireplace!

Marc's job is pretty hard core, he has to look perfectly groomed at all times... Doesn't he look swarve!

We had to return those shoes though, they destroyed his feet in the first shift.

For our last night at Claude's house we had a nice home cooked dinner and then watched Avatar in our favourite PRIVATE theatre.

We had a great time, eating popcorn, drinking wine and relaxing in the comfy recliner chairs.

Marc had some fun playing with the tripod and the camera

We really enjoyed our time with Claude.  It was so much fun getting to know the Canadian Rockies from a local knowledge.  She showed us around and most of all gave us a home away from home.  Thanks a million Claude for your kindness, your chearfulness and for all your great advise.

Next blog we'll show you our new place...

Day 045 & 046 - Emerald Lake & Shopping in Banff

Day 045 - Emerald Lake

After working on Friday on a gorgeous day, I was pretty excited at the weather forecast being hot and sunny for the weekend.  Here is the place Marc and I have been staying at Claude's house.  It's such a nice place, we have loved staying here:

Mother nature is changing colours...

We decided to go to Emerald Lake and make the most of the nice weather.  Technically Emerald Lake is in another state, just over the Alberta border in BC.  It is part of the Yoho National Park, only a 1 1/2 hour drive from Canmore.  You can walk all around the lake, so that's exactly what we did....

The start of our walk around the lake...

Marc got me to photograph two dragonflies linked together.  As I was taking photos and got too close they took off and flew away still linked together.

Had to pinch myself a few times ... we're in Canada baby!

Shadow photos of us up on a big rock by the lake

View from the other side of the lake..

Beautiful butterfly we found by the lake

Beautiful autumn leaves

Sun was setting so we made our way home.  Had a great day!

Day 046 - Shopping in Banff

Marc's first day at work is Monday so we needed to get him some work clothes.  Black plants and black fancy work shoes.  Luckily we found it all in Banff.  We came to the conclusion that we are very glad we are not living in Banff.  It is sooooo full of tourists everywhere and so busy, its nice to come back to Canmore at the end of the day.

Hope you enjoyed the photos..

Day 043 & 044 - Reality sets in, time to get to work

After over 1 month of making the most of what Canada has to offer and travelling from Vancouver to Vancouver Island and then all the way to the Rockies, we had to get back to reality.  Time to find a job, get an appartment and get ready for the winter.  Great news is, I managed to get a job at a Wildlife photography gallery right here in Canmore.  I get to talk about and look at Canadian wildlife all day!  It's great!

Even better, on my first day at work, Marc got himself a job too.... working at the Banff Springs Fairmont Hotel as an audio visual technician... NICE!
Check out the pics of where Marc will work on Monday:

Its a very fancy place.  Marc has to get nice dress pants and shoes to work there.... hehehe

Walking back to our car we spotted this guy chillin in the middle of the football field.  So cool!

That's a big boy...

So to celebrate Marc getting a job on the spot (within a 30 minute interview) and walking out with his uniform and contract, he bought himself a nice ski jacket.  Here is what the boy will look like carving up those hills in a few months:

His board is called the destroyer and he got his pants last weekend... ready to go!

Marc got me my awesome board last week too....

Colourful much?!?!?!
I love my board!  Now just gotta ride it....

Marc got to pick a free DVD with his jacket so we thought lets watch it on the big screen to psych ourselves up for the winter.

This is where we've been having movie nights, so far we've watched Thor and Xmen
First Class blu-ray on the big screen and its been awesome!

Marc and Claude enjoying the movie

Nice recliner chairs to lay back and enjoy the movie, better than any paying cinema...

As this is our last weekend of freedom before we start working, we are going to Emerald Lake so watch out for some nice photos...
