Day 036 - The Kananaskis Mountains

When you're in Canada, the weather plays a big part in what you do. The weather was great, so we headed out for a stroll around the area.

This is Quarry Lake, near Claude's house in Canmore.  This is where the locals come to hang out on a hot day and go for swim.

As we where walking around the lake people were diving in from the other side, they complained that it was cold but just dove in again.

Love the reflection in the lake.

This is Claude explaining to us where she climbed to 2 weeks ago. (The very tip of the mountain called Ha Ling Peak) She said within 15 minutes of getting to the top, it went from bright and sunnie to hailing ice and rain, then back to sunny again. The mountain range weather is crazy like that.

This is the local water reservoir, pretty small but Canmore is only small (12 000 people approx) and there is more than one of these reservoirs.

When the sun goes behind a cloud, the temp drops about 10 degrees. CRAZY!!!

After a long drive along a dusty gravel road ( approx 37 km's) we arrived at a private lodge for Tea. Very cool location and apparently a Moose had been hanging around right by the lodge. We waited around for the moose, but he ended up being a "no show".

Along the way home we spotted some dear, a whole family by the looks of it.

Dear bum !

Apparently they come by the road to lick the left over salt from the previous winter...

The sun was setting fast so we took a few shots here and there whilst the sun was out.

Hope you enjoyed the pics.

Marc
